I HATE playing Man Utd, I really do, something always seems to go against Spurs up there and the referee’s are ridiculously biased. Mark Clattenburg want’s to be centre of attention all the time it seems, if he didn’t see the blatant hand ball by Nani when he so easily fell to the ground in the penalty box then he should be listening to the linesman, who did. After all, what are the “referee’s assistants” doing there otherwise?

To rub more salt into Spurs wounds, Mark Clattenburg was the same referee that didn’t give Pedro Mendes’s “goal” for Spurs at United when the ball was fumbled by then keeper Roy Carroll and ended up at least a couple of feet over the line. The most obvious non goal that has probably ever been scored.

As for the game, Spurs didn’t really do enough to win the game, which was quite disappointing. They have some good passages of play and play some good football at times but could not test the keeper as much as they should, especially as Man Utd are conceding a fair few goals recently and I hoped that they would put them under a little more pressure. But, Man Utd do what Man Utd do best, they stuck in there, got the first goal and went on from there. They are probably the best team in the league at grinding out results even when not playing at their best.

Maybe next time Spurs….?

If it wasn’t for a much better second half and the brilliance of Gareth Bale, Spurs would have been a laughing stock. I don’t get it, one of the biggest nights for many years, a night that most football players would dream of, a night to show the doubters that Spurs do actually belong in the Champions League, but to give a goal away after just 68 seconds, have the goalkeeper sent off after 8 minutes and to stand off them and look totally out of their depth is just plain embarrassing.

All the talk before the game that we are ready, we can compete, we can get something at Inter…. Stop talking the talk and start walking the walk Spurs! To many times the fans are told this and that but come game time, fail to show up. The game is 90 minutes long, so as soon as the ref blows the first whistle, what you waiting for?! You have a game plan, play to it. Teams as good as Inter Milan don’t need an invitation to pass the ball and attack, that is obvious to even the newest of football fan and when your own players aren’t quite as good as the opposition, you have to close down the space and make it hard, that is just football 101.

Positives? Well, Gareth Bale. He is an incredible footballer and athlete. As a Spurs fan i feel very lucky to be able to watch him play in the famous lilywhite shirt and just want to see him on the ball as much as possible, top top quality. The whole team display in the second half was much better, even with 10 men it was more positive. Inter might of been in cruise mode by that point but at least Spurs gave a better account of themselves and showed some fighting spirit, even though it was 45 minutes late in coming.

Bring on the home tie in 2 weeks time and lets hope Spurs have learned some valuable lessons and really show what they can do against the best right from the word go.

The answer is quite simply NO! Well, in my opinion anyway, even though it might seem a little biased!

Pace, power, balance and skill all topped off with a thunderous left foot, I am struggling to think of anyone in the Premier League with all those attributes, specially who is only 21, he’s top class. Maybe somewhere in Germany, Spain or Italy there is that type of young exciting player coming through at a club but on British shores, Gareth Bale quite rightly has that crown. Maybe Adam Johnson at City has a claim, but I think even his, with all his recent hype, doesn’t match Bale. GB is the left wing KING!

I for one am really glad to see Giovani given a chance and playing very well, he was causing all sorts of problems for the Italians and unselfishly set-up Roman Pavlyuchenko for Spurs first goal after robbing the right back, drawing out the keeper and then just squaring it for Pav to tap home. If Gio can keep his mind on his football and stop all the partying, Spurs could have a real gem on their hands.

Robbie Keane is showing some good pre season form with another 2 goals after coming on as a second half sub and lets hope that continues into the new league season, as last year Robbie’s form really dipped and was loaned out to Celtic in the mickey mouse league, I mean the SPL! Robbie’s first goal you can see below, a great finish.

Out of the potential other ties we could have faced, click here to see them, this is the easiest, certainly on paper at least. Although they did beat Fenarbache in the last round, 1-0 in Turkey to, Spurs should have to much for them home and away.

So if Tottenham don’t win this match over both legs, not only will they be the laughing stock of the league but they don’t deserve to be competing at that level, period. So even though it looks the easiest tie on paper, let’s hope it doesn’t turn out to be a disaster!

Our first appearance in Europe’s elite competition, the last thing we want is to do what Everton did a few years ago and go out in the qualifying round. Tottenham are seeded, so we avoid some of the good sides in the draw.

Possible opponents are:

SC Braga

Auxerre

Sampdoria

Dinamo kiev

Young Boys

If I had to choose one side to play, it would be Young Boys of Switzerland! I don’t want Sampdoria, that’s for sure.

We will find out tomorrow, fingers crossed fellow Spurs fans! More on the draw tomorrow.

That’s quite a big statement considering the unsuccessful reign of Steve McClaren and some of the, let’s face it, inept performances in failing to qualify for the 2008 European Championships in Austria & Switzerland.

All the talk of being potential World Cup winners and having some of the best players in the world couldn’t be further from the truth. Players like Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard were the 3 worst performing players on the field for me, but they seem to be untouchable and can play however they like and they will not be substituted or left out of the next game. I have never seen Rooney not be able to control the ball with his first touch or make a simple short pass, it certainly looks as if he is believing all his hype and thinks all he has to do is show up and that’s enough. He certainly didn’t look like one of the supposed world class players on show this summer or to be a team player on that performance, that’s what was disappointing.

I want to see free flowing, fast, attacking football and this England team just to have the ability to play that way. I much prefer watching Brazil, Argentina, Spain and even, dare I say it, Germany and that’s the sad thing, watching England is boring.
